Welcome in Bogotá – the metropolis 2600 meters closer to the stars. At the airport our guide welcomes you and takes you to the beautiful old city center, La Candelaria. The area will enchant you with its narrow streets and colorful houses with small courtyards.

The first stop is Monserrate, Bogotá’s vantage point, from which you have an excellent view over the city. Subsequently you will walk through the narrow streets of the old city to the Plaza Bolívar, Bogotá’s main square. One of the highlights is the Gold Museum, a must on a visit to Bogotá. Here you find out more about the indigenous population of the country and the mystical story of the „Golden“ – El Dorado.

Your guide will then take you back to the airport for your onward flight and will assist you when checking in.

As option 2 but with excursion to Zipaquirá and Lake Guatavita and two overnight stays)

Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Lake Guatavita

Today you will drive across a lush green scenery to Zipaquirá to visit the unique underground salt cathedral. It was built into the used up parts of a huge salt mine. The Stations of the Cross are carved from the salty stone lead to a giant main nave. After a typical Colombian lunch you drive on to the lake of Guatavita. Here the muisca chieftains were covered in gold and took a ritual bath in the lake during their coronation. A short walk through the typical highland “paramo” vegetation takes you back to your vehicle for the drive back to Bogotá.
