Juan Solito Ecolodge lies in the heart of Colombia’s eastern plains, or Los Llanos. The remote lodge sits within the vast private reserve of Hato La Aurora in Casanare, right on the banks of the Ariporo River. It offers an immersive experience in one of Colombia’s most biodiverse and lesser-explored regions.

The lodge follows a low-impact approach and blends simple, traditional architecture with its natural surroundings. It uses local materials and focuses on protecting the surrounding ecosystem. There is no air conditioning or hot water. Electricity is available for around four hours each evening. These simple conditions encourage guests to slow down and connect with nature.

The small lodge offers different accommodation options. The main house has seven spacious rooms. Four simple cabins provide a more rustic experience. Guests can also sleep in hammocks for an even closer connection to the outdoors. All rooms have a private bathroom, lighting and a fan.

Wildlife takes centre stage at Juan Solito. Guests can join llanero safaris, horseback rides, hikes, fishing trips and birdwatching excursions. The reserve is home to capybaras, caimans, deer and a wide range of bird species. These activities offer excellent opportunities to experience the wildlife of the Llanos in its natural habitat.
