Tayrona National Park is one of Colombia’s most spectacular natural destinations. The park stretches along the Caribbean coast, where the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta meet the sea. Tropical forests, palm-lined beaches, and huge granite boulders create its iconic landscape.

Hiking offers one of the best ways to explore the park. Trails wind through dense jungle and connect beautiful beaches such as Cabo San Juan and La Piscina. Along the way, look out for monkeys, iguanas, colourful birds, and other wildlife.

The park also offers a chance to slow down and enjoy the coast. Relax beneath the palms, walk along the beaches, or take in the views of the Caribbean. Strong currents and waves can make the sea dangerous, so only swim in designated areas and follow local safety advice.

Tayrona also has deep cultural significance. The park forms part of the ancestral territory of Indigenous communities, including the Kogui, who maintain a strong spiritual connection to the Sierra Nevada.

With its rich biodiversity, dramatic landscapes, and cultural heritage, Tayrona offers an unforgettable experience on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
