Day 1 – 3

Prepare yourself for a profound, magical and transforming experience in the heart of the most imposing jungle in the world at Chunaki Ecolodge.  Located on the banks of the majestic Amazon River, this natural enclave is approximately one hour by boat from Leticia. You will be greeted by a garden of exotic flowers, palm trees and fruit trees where birds, monkeys, butterflies and countless other species live.

Chunaki’s cabins combine traditional construction techniques with modern comforts. Each maloca has a private bathroom, beds with mosquito nets and an outdoor terrace that allows you to enjoy the jungle at its best. The interiors are decorated with local handicrafts, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The cuisine at Chunaki is a celebration of Amazonian flavors. Each dish is prepared with fresh local ingredients. The communal table becomes a gathering space for conversation and shared laughter where strangers become friends and time dissolves. Two activities are offered per day that you can customize in a totally flexible way. However, they may change due to weather or river conditions. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Your adventure begins with a hike through the Chunaki Reserve for instant immersion. There are many trekking trails, which, depending on your preference, can last from a couple of hours to several days. A must is Maikuchiga Monkey Sanctuary. You will walk around the monkeys with minimal impact and see them interacting in their environment. At San Antonio Relocation you will learn about the slow life of the mysterious sloth bear. A 40 minute hike in Puerto Alegre takes you to the incredible and still unknown Kaouchi Lake. Kayak in its calm waters, take out your fishing rod and catch a piranha.  The Amazon has one of the most unusual creatures which is the pink dolphin. From the boat you will have a unique view of this animal jumping out of the water. In the community of Macedonia you can experience an authentic ceremony, dance to traditional music and test your natural hunting skills with wooden targets. Don’t miss Puerto Nariño, a great place to experience local life while gazing at magnificent landscapes from a lookout point. Sunsets in the Amazon rainforest are often a very special event for their stunning vibrant colors.
