Day 7

Day at leisure.

Option A:

Mangroves are swamp ecosystems of incredible diversity, essential for the environmental balance of many tropical coastal areas. They act as a natural barrier against storms and erosion, filter the water, and provide habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna. This authentic 3-hour canoe tour begins in La Boquilla, a small fishing village mainly inhabited by Afro-Colombian communities. From there, you will head to the Ciénaga de la Virgen, navigating through channels and tunnels formed by dense mangrove forests. During the tour, you will venture into the heart of this ecosystem, making stops in small hidden spots where biodiversity reveals the treasures of this magnificent environment. You will be able to observe migratory and resident birds, fiddler crabs, juvenile fish, mollusks, and even medicinal plants that grow in brackish water. At the end, you will return to La Boquilla, where your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel.

(Half day canoe trip to the Mangroves, private transport with Spanish speaking driver, bilingual guide, entrance fee and snack.)

Option B:

Today, you will depart from the Dock Santa Cruz in Cartagena to Isla Grande, the largest of the Islas del Rosario. The boat trip takes about one hour. There you will enjoy a rest day in beautiful surroundings, on the beach of the Hotel Majagua. With a welcome cocktail you can enjoy the Caribbean sun on the beach. Try a typical lunch of the region. In the afternoon you will go back to Cartagena on board the boat.
