In the eastern Colombia there are green lowlands that couldn’t be more diverse. In the department of Casanare we have the option to visit a lodge and be close to the nature.
Day 1 Bogotá – Yopal
In the morning you fly from Bogotá to Yopal in the department Casanare. Afterwards you drive approx. one to four hours, depending on the lodge. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and the variety of animals on the way to the lodge. Depending on your arrival time, you will take a short boat trip to get to know the local fauna and enjoy a beautiful sunset. In the evening you will watch videos of pumas and jaguars taken with a hidden camera with an expert.
Day 2 Yopal
After breakfast we will take the horse to observe a wide range of wildlife. Jaguars, capybaras, deer, horses, caimans, lizards and giant anteaters are some of the animals you can find here. The breathtaking scenery has the nickname “Colombia Safari”. Learn more about the local culture and its inhabitants. Here you can also see the use of leather lassos and horse hairs in the region. Try the delicious lunch of meat, cheese, rice, yucca, banana and salad. You will then have time to take a rest before returning to your lodge. Once the sun has set, go back on safari and watch the nocturnal animals of the region. In the pleasant atmosphere of the lodge you will enjoy your evening accompanied by folkloric songs and stories about the legend of “Silbón, la Llorona”; and the fireball.
Day 3 Yopal
Enjoy the cowboy feeling on a ride to “Cari Babare”; while you learn everything about their work (seasonal). Alternatively, you can take a ride to observe birds and monkeys in the surroundings of your lodge.
Day 4 Yopal – Bogotá
Depending on the flight time, you will drive to the airport of Yopal where you will fly back to Bogotá. If time permits, you are welcome to take an extensive walk in the surroundings of the lodge.
